It’s a good time to remember, clarify, and update your why. Once upon a time, a year or twenty ago, you didn’t have this job or client, or you didn’t own this company. And an anniversary is a good time to stop, self-reflect, and try to remember what it was that made you get into this in the first place. Work anniversaries happen on LinkedIn because you entered that company or job into your experience section, and marked the client or company as continuing into the present. Maybe not, if you handle it the way I’ve always handled work anniversaries – as something to be totally forgotten until an automatic notification reminds me, and a few extra-thoughtful contacts take the time to send me a warm thought.īut maybe, just maybe, there’s a better way to do it. I know this, because when I came back to LinkedIn I had 12 “ Congratulations on Your Work Anniversary!” type messages waiting to be opened. Due to a sudden downpour of deadlines I ended up taking about a week off of LinkedIn. While I was tapping out articles and other assorted copywriting magic, I apparently had a work anniversary with one of my clients.
